Unanswered Questions

There are quite a few unanswered questions that will probably come to pass in the next few weeks. Here are a few that could have MAJOR FF implications to keep an eye on as you develop draft strategies or make trades in keeper leagues.

The Jets WR situation: I am assuming that they find a way to re-sign Holmes but that Edwards is out. If this is the case, Holmes could be viewed as a top 10-15 WR. If they both stay it could drop his value to the 25 range. The redskins will make a push for Holmes as well.

Kevin Kolb: It seems like a foregone conclusion that Kolb will end up in AZ. If he does, Fitzgerald becomes the #1 WR in football I think. Fitz played well with crappy, TERRIBLE QBs last year. Imagine what he could do with a guy like Kolb throwing to him.

Packers RB situation: I think this is clearly going to be a 60/40 split between Grant and Starks, but if Grant ends up being the workhorse again, he could be a lock for 1200 rushing yards and 10+ TDs.

James Jones: Jones is good enough to be a #1 for a lot of teams. Currently I see him as the 4th or 5th option in the Packers passing game after Jennings, Finley, Nelson, and Driver (in that order). If he lands somewhere like TN as a compliment to Kenny Britt or even in Chicago, he could be a major breakout candidate.

Miami’s RB situation: It seems they are content to let Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown walk and start a rookie. Without much of a passing game, this could spell disaster….or it could mean a rookie carries the ball 400 times and even with a poor ypg of 3.5 he would see 1400 rushing yards.

Carolina’s QB situation: I don’t care who the QB is. Neither will be worth drafting. But if Newton gets the nod, I think guys like D-Will, Stewy, and the entire WR core gets upgraded. Newton clearly has more talent and also has the ability to move out of the pocket.

LT/Greene: If LT continues the downward trend we saw towards the end of 2010, Greene may see the spike in carries that I thought he would have gotten last year. The kid is super-fast and if he can carry the rock 300+ times and be the main option in the dump off game, watch out!

Vikings pass game: If they can hold onto Rice and Harvin along with Shiancoe, any decent QB could look good….especially when teams have to respect the run. Don’t be surprised if some no-name new guy ends up as a top 15 QB in MN.

Moss/TO: Will anyone take a risk on either of these guys? Could a coach keep either of them in check? I think TO is done, but if Moss decides he wants a ring I wouldn’t be surprised to see him land somewhere and give a real effort this season.

…more to come as questions pop up.
