Mailbag

As this site has just started (as I type this it isn't even published yet) there are no emails or posts that need answered for our first ever mailbag. So I have decided to comment on some questions and discussions currently taking place in cyberspace.

From jerseyboy257: "[Mike] Williams is going to be the Mike Wallace of the Bucs. With that offense thriving, Williams will get tons of targets and I see him being top 7 WR's."

Number Cruncher: Mike Williams racked up 967 yards and an amazing 11 TDs last season. He has quickly developed into the top target on a young team that is constantly improving. The re-emergence of a running game with Bloute as well as the run threat by Freeman has opened things up in the passing game. After scoring nearly 160 points last season in his rookie campaign, MW should land right around the #10 spot for WRs. Williams faces a mid-level schedule as far as pass defenses. With guys like AJ, Wayne, Jennings, D-Jack, White, Megatron, etc it makes it tough to put MW at 7, but not impossible.

From lineback58: "GREEN BAY GREEN BAY GREEN BAY.............YAK YAK YAK. How about this: Let's see if they make the playoffs NEXT YEAR before we elect the entire team to the Hall of Fame? I'm so sick of this BS Hype."

Number Cruncher: Anyone thinking that Green Bay won't make a run for the SB next season, let alone making the playoffs, is not looking at any of the numbers (which of course is what we do here). Green Bay played the season with 16 players on IR. They were 2nd in the league in outscoring their opponents after losing all 6 games by 4 points or less and never trailing by more than 7. The last time a team never trailed by more than 7 all season was in the 30s. More importantly than all of this is that their schedule is much easier than 2010. Instead of playing the Pats, Jets, Giants, Eagles, and Cowboys they get to play the AFC West (the 2nd worst division in football) as well as games against the Rams and the AFC South. Add to that their own division games with no Brett Favre and an aging Bears defense and this team could easily go 12-4 and have home field throughout the playoffs. Get used to it lineback58, GB will be there for a while.

From feartheflock: "My QB Rankings: 1. Manning 2. Brady 3. Rodgers 4. Brees 5. Rivers 6. Romo 7. Rothlesberger 8. Vick"

Number Cruncher: Are these rankings based on talent? Hiow in the world is Michael Vick, a guy that lead the fantasy world with only 12 games in 2010, ranked 8th? Even if we are talking about talent, Vick has to be much higher than some of your other options there. If we remove the 4 games Vick didn't play in as well as the 1 game where he only had a few snaps before getting hurt in Washington, then in his other 11 games he had 2969 passing yards, 659 rushing yards, 30 total TDs, and 9 turnovers. That is 346 points. Project that over 16 games and he would have scored over 500 points and destroyed records in the process. While the risk level is higher than a guy like Manning or Rodgers, he is easily top 3.

That is all for the first mailbag. Thanks for the posters (who didn't know they were posting!)
